Released from the Jeanneau shipyards in 2003, the Sun Odyssey 40 DS occupies a special place in the range: the Deck Saloon version offers a raised square bathed in light and a panoramic view of the outside, rare on a 12-meter sailboat. Pavilion France, three cabins, eight beds: a habitable cruiser designed for the family as for the large coastal crossings. Price: €99,500 including tax.
Construction and marine qualities
Polyester shell of 12.20 m for 3.95 m of bau and 1.95 m of draft, displacement of 7,200 kg: balanced proportions which give the boat stiffness to the canvas and a healthy behavior at the sea. The deck is teak, just like the cockpit. The rigging is served by a mainsail on a reel and a genoa, both from 2021, supplemented by a spindle rigging, backstool, rail and mainsail trolley, halyard and UV-slide rigs.
Cruise engine and volumes
A 2023 four-cylinder diesel Volvo D2-55 displaying 1,000 hours, drives shaft line transmission. Cruising speed of 7 knots, 11 knots max, for a consumption of around 2 l/h: the autonomy is comfortable with 136 liters of diesel and 320 liters of fresh water. Inside, three cabins, eight beds, a convertible square, oven, electric refrigerator (2023), hot water and Ebersracher heating (2023) allow use in all seasons.
